His passion lies in designing, building, and overseeing unique backyard architecture and intricate outdoor living spaces that exceed his clients’ expectations.
With over 20 years of experience in construction, Burkhardt understands the complexity of any major project, whether it’s an outdoor kitchen, custom swimming pool, or addition to your existing home. He is personally involved in all phases, from design to finish-out, and he has a knack for solving complicated situations that inevitably arise during every project. “The trickiest part of construction is anticipating problems and having several solutions to correct, modify, and complete the project without going back to the client and charging them more money,” he says. “I always carry a contingency plan under my arm, and if that one doesn’t work, I can create a new one on the fly.” His experience with permitting, inspections, and engineering ensures there will be no costly surprises or delays. He builds rapport and trust with his clients by expertly explaining materials, construction techniques, and city requirements.
Burkhardt is the innovator of four unique structural and visual concepts: Gravity Structures, Eclectic Reflections, Directional Shade Structures, and Transitional Designs. By pushing the threshold of common architectural principles and engineering techniques, and by using materials for structural integrity and visual interest, Burkhardt creates unique living environments that are not just functional; they are masterpieces in design and appearance.
Burkhardt’s imaginative designs change people’s lifestyles. “When the project is completed, and I’m walking the project with the clients and they have smiles on their faces, I get an adrenaline rush as if I jumped out of an airplane,” he says. “I know that I’ve just changed their lifestyle forever. This is how I came up with my original motto, ‘Changing lifestyles one family at a time.’ I enjoy giving clients more than they could have imagined.”
